SIMONE BOWLER

  • An APA Titled Women’s Men’s Pelvic health and APA Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist Simone completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2001 at Charles Sturt University before completing a Post Graduate Certificate Women’s Health and Pelvic floor rehabilitation at Melbourne University in 2006, Master of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2012 at LaTrobe University, as well as Post Graduate Certificate on the Conservative Pelvic Organ Prolapse Management at University of South Australia in 2021.

    Simone has lived in the Albury/Wodonga since 1998.  Health and fitness have always been key areas of interest to Simone growing up in Victoria’s Mallee region competing in athletics, netball, triathlon and many other sports.

    She loves empowering her patients to achieve their best health, through all stages of their life.

    She values the importance of community and has worked at Healthfocus since 2003, becoming a Principal in 2018.

    Simone has been associated with the Murray Bushrangers for several years and is the Head Physiotherapist for the girls U18 team in the Coates Talent league.

Michael Bowler

  • Michael graduated from Charles Sturt University and joined Healthfocus in 2004, before becoming a Director in 2008.

    He completed his Masters in Sports Physiotherapy in 2014, becoming a titled Australian Physiotherapy Association Sport‘s Physiotherapist. Michael has also gained extensive expertise in the management of sports injuries, and continues to be involved with the Murray Bushrangers, Victorian AFL Academy and the O&M. He is the joint head physiotherapist for the AFL U18 team in the Coates Talent league.

    Managing both recreational and elite athletes to optimise their biomechanics and return to sport, he has a particular interest in adolescent athletes and running assessment. He is instrumental in advocating and implementing best practice concussion management, performing various occupational health roles throughout the region.

OUR PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

Dr Mandy Hobbs (PhD)

  • A well qualified and respected physiotherapist in the Border region and is a former director of Healthfocus having been instrumental in its progress from 2005 to 2018.

    Mandy completed a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University in 2004 and a PhD from Sydney University in 2011 researching rehabilitation after lumbar disc surgery. She has published several journal papers on this topic and presented at conferences internationally and in Australia.

    Mandy has a strong interest in spinal physiotherapy, in particular chronic conditions and those requiring spinal surgery. She also treats people with vestibular physiotherapy for balance and dizziness disorders.

    Highly skilled in treating TMJ & facial pain as well as musculoskeletal conditions that affect speech. Mandy is passionate about helping people achieve their goals by helping them overcome their barriers to good health. Mandy is a keen runner having run several marathons and ultramarathons.

Shane Robertson

  • Shane graduated from Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences in 1987 and also holds a post graduate diploma and Master’s Degree in Sports Physiotherapy. He is a titled APA sports physiotherapist and his special interests are biomechanical assessment and treatment of sporting injuries.

    After playing and working as a physiotherapist in the AFL, he commenced work at Healthfocus in 1989 and was a director for nearly 20 years. He continues to work clinically on a part time basis. Shane is always up for a chat about the plight of farming, picking a winner on the weekend or who will win the flag.

Michelle van Kesteren

  • An experienced physiotherapist who joined Healthfocus in 2008 after graduating with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Charles Sturt University. Michelle grew up in the local region and has worked with several different local sporting teams in the region.

    Michelle completed her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy through La Trobe University and became a titled Australian Physiotherapy Association Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist, in 2019.

    As part of her postgraduate training Michelle worked alongside one of Australia’s most experienced and skilled shoulder physiotherapists. This post-graduate work has advanced Michelle’s clinical skills to manage more complex sports and musculoskeletal injuries using current evidence-based management principles and therapy, particularly in the area of shoulder and upper limb injuries. Michelle has vast experience in pre and postoperative orthopaedic rehabilitation and sports injury prevention, management and rehabilitation.

    Michelle is also a certified GLA:D® Physiotherapist allowing her to provide high quality, comprehensive and evidence-based programs, consisting of education and exercise, to patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis.

SHAE NEWTON

  • A physiotherapist with a passion for strength and nutrition. Shae joined the HealthfocusPhysiotherapy team as a New Graduate in March of 2013 after completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy Honours at Charles Sturt University. She is an ACSA Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coach, a qualified APPI Pilates instructor and completed a Diploma of Food and Nutrition in 2020. She has Graduate Certificate in Clinical Rehabilitation and a Graduate Certificate in Sports Medicine.

    Shae shares her passion for exercise and healthy living with her clients. She is particularly interested in assisting adolescents and people of all ages with neurological conditions in their pursuit of living an active life. She also enjoys the sense of achievement in guiding people of all ages toward a healthy lifestyle through wholistic approach including exercise, optimal nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.

    Shae is an active promotor of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.  She has written several blogs on health promotion that can be found at www.physiosforpa.com/blog as well as making various contributions to Australian Physiotherapy Association publications.

PATRICK WALL

  • Patrick graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2022 and joined Healthfocus in June 2024. 

    Patrick has grown up in the region and has participated in local sporting teams in the surrounding communities. 

    Patrick’s interests include orthopaedic rehabilitation, the management of hip and knee osteoarthritis, sporting injuries, vestibular rehabilitation, and all aspects of musculoskeletal physiotherapy.  

    Patrick is also a certified GLA:D® Physiotherapist, which enables him to provide high-quality, evidence-based programs to patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis.

    Patrick is passionate about providing high-quality evidence-based practice, empowering other people to live a healthy and active life, achieve their goals and return to their best physical level.

    Outside of work, Patrick enjoys maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle through running, going to the gym and participating in local sport.

ANGELA PINSON

  • Angela comes to Healthfocus with a high level of sporting and academic achievements. Upon graduation in 2022, Angela received both the Charles Sturt University and the Australian Physiotherapy Association Prizes for Highest Academic Achievement.

    Angela has also been a competitive Powerlifter, lifting at national and international events. She represented Australia for powerlifting in 2013 and won a Bronze Medal in the 2014 Australian Powerlifting Championships.

    She draws on a variety of physiotherapy experiences from both public and private settings.

    Angela has a keen interest in shoulder biomechanics, strength and function. She enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions, including hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand related presentations.

    Outside of work Angela enjoys spending time with her family, camping, jogging, and motorcycle riding.

MELISSA PEAKE

  • Melissa Peake joined the team in 2021 in the role of Practice Manager, with many years of experience in leading teams and administration.

    Melissa is a highly experienced leader with a focus on coordinating, guiding, and supporting a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team through, training, knowledge sharing, building genuine connections for sustaining professional relationships to ensure the effective management of operations.

    Melissa has completed a Graduate Certificate in Computing (Career Transition) with Charles Sturt University.

    In her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

BROOKE McKOY

  • Brooke joined the team in an Administration role in June 2007. She has previous experience in the health industry as well as retail and hospitality. Brooke has a background in Digital Media and Business Administration. Outside of work she enjoys art and photography and spending time with family and friends.

NATASHA MARINIC

  • Natasha joined the team at Healthfocus in May 2017.
    Natasha has completed a Bachelor of Business degree online through Swinburne University. Outside of work she enjoys catching up with friends and family.

  • Ruby joined the team in 2024 as an Administration Trainee, after completing her VCE in 2023.

TANYA WOOD

  • Healthfocus Physiotherapy have welcomed Tanya back to the team in June 2024.

    Tanya has many years of experience, providing administrative support in the Allied Health sector and as an Office Manager/Accounts Manager in the Building & Construction industry. Outside of work Tanya loves spending time with her family and friends, camping, travelling and bike riding.
